then do all that you can, do more than anyone ever let you do, do it all while you’ve still got wings and don’t take things for granted and stare into the sun and when you can’t stay up any longer then go down in flames

Ahh, I really like this way of looking at the story!

I always used to hate the story of Icarus, the way I always heard it. It was all about pride, and how pride is bad (which I never believed), and how terrible it was to want to be like the gods, and want to fly.

But recently, I’m seeing a lot of ideas inspired by this story that I really like, and it’s helping to… reclaim it, for me?

when i read about it when i was a kid, there was strong emphasis on the “don’t try to be what you’re not” thing and i felt kind of disappointed that such a good thing with wings had such a shitty idea attached to it

but (and this is lame)

denzel and i were pulling together a backstory for my character sven and they wrote something involving a modified version of the icarus story and i dunno, it really stuck with me for some reason and i’m a sucker for metaphors and things and this one was just 

really good and it fit and it was right and

now it just seems right
